Hello! I am Laurie Pascoe and I have been practising law in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada since 1977. I practise in the areas of Family Law, Wills and Powers of Attorney and the Administration of Estates. My web site is organized according to these practice areas to allow my clients and prospective clients to locate information more easily.

From my years of practising Family Law, I realize that the court process, though sometimes necessary, is not the best way to resolve matrimonial disputes as it is too expensive and sometimes arbitrary. I believe the dispute will be resolved more fairly and less costly both financially and emotionally by proper negotiations. I therefore put a lot of effort into trying to settle a case. I also believe it is important to advise clients of all the processes available to them to resolve their matter and then to support my client's chosen process.

Each practice area has a slide presentation outlining what occurs at a client's first consultation, client forms, and sometimes other articles which are not in the packet (some written for lawyers), along with links to other web sites of interest. My questionnaires and forms are also set out separately from the packet and can be filled out online and emailed to me or one can just print them out be brought to the appointment.

As I am quite interested in Law Office Management I have presented a number of articles for lawyers on this subject and some substantive law articles which are found in Articles for Lawyers.

To encourage feedback to help me improve my services, I have some short surveys. I also have a section for each practice area called “Clients’ Words of Wisdom” where I am asking clients (anonymously if preferred) to provide suggestions to other clients going through the same process. I will edit those suggestions before putting them on my site. I will provide an annual prize for the best suggestion for me or my clients.
